Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar(from Sonoma County, Monterey County and Santa Barbara fruit): Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of raspberry, smoke and earth. Soft and easygoing, with red fruit and woodsmoke flavors offering immediate appeal. Finishes with supple tannins and a slight tartness. (ST) (6/2014)
49% Sonoma Coast, 43% Monterey County and 8% Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. Winemaker Jayson Woodbridge, creator of the popular single vineyard Pinot with a singularly catchy name, Cherry Pie, says that he stumbled over a new concept while walking the vineyards: "Multi-Single-Vineyard blend." Tiny lots of grapes from three appellations are "micro fermented" in puncheon barrels and then combined to make this artisanal Pinot Noir. Whatever you call it, it sounds delicious.
